The day of romance we call Valentine’s Day is named for a Christian martyr and dates back to the 5th century, but has origins in the Roman holiday Lupercalia. On Valentine’s Day, many people exchange cards, candy, gifts or flowers with their special “valentine.” Valentine’s Day is February 14th.
To celebrate this year’s Valentine’s Day, Columbia College created a unique, interesting day called “Red and White Day,” which is February 12. On the Red and White Day, we encourage all the students and staff members to wear clothes in red and white and to bring, if they can, white and red cookies, marshmallows, candies, and chocolates to share with others.
