This cosmetology program consists of intensive practice and lecture designed to prepare our students to take the Virginia State Board of Cosmetology examination for licensure. Student who have completed this program successfully are eligible to take the state board examination and become a licensed cosmetologist, salon manager, and/or cosmetic technician or school instructor.

Cosmetology is an approved program in Virginia. Students are eligible to sit for board-approved examination for licensure upon completion of this program. The program incorporates 1,500 hours of rigorous, practical, and technical training based on the most innovative curriculums in the industry. This program prepares students to become a beauty professional through hands-on training in hair and nail design, basic makeup artistry and product, retail and marketing strategy.

  • In order to obtain a license in Cosmetology, Barbering or Nail Technology in the state of Virginia, individuals must complete the requirements. Cosmetology-related services are required hiring cosmetology experts who possess the license.

  • Employment of hairdressers, hairstylists, and cosmetologists is projected to grow 13 percent from 2012 to 2022, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Demand for hair coloring, hair straightening, and other advanced hair treatments has risen in recent years, a trend that is expected to continue over the coming decade.
