Juneteenth: The Emancipation Proclamation Realized – June 19th
Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation Day, celebrates the end of slavery in Texas on June 19, 1865. This was two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation declared enslaved people in Confederate states to be free. Juneteenth symbolizes the end of slavery in America and is a day to honor the resilience and contributions of African Americans.
