7 Things To Do in D.C. During Presidents’ Day
1. Presidents’ Day Parade
Take this opportunity to see the Presidents Day Parade. Every year, Old Town Alexandria hosts a parade to honor our first President. It is the oldest and largest parade dedicated to George Washington.
2. Take a Sightseeing Lunch Tour on a Cruise Ship
Here you can sign up for a cruise lunch tour and eat to your heart’s content with a buffet. You will also see amazing sights of Alexandria and the Woodrow Wilson Bridge as you cruise along the Potomac. Tickets: $80.
3. Mount Vernon to Washington’s House
Celebrate the first U.S. president of the United States with free admission for Presidents’ Day and George Washington’s birthday. Admission tickets must be reserved online in advance. Tickets will be released to Mount Vernon members on Feb. 11 and to the public on Feb. 15. Limited tickets are available.
4. Black History Month Museums Tour
This website provides a self-guided tour around East Georgetown and gives a very insightful history of the buildings. There is also a tour of the Arlington Cemetery as well.
5. Disney on Ice For the Kids
Bring the kids out to see Disney on Ice and watch your favorite movies come to life on ice. Tickets start at $20.
6. Joyful Fridays Series: NMAAHC
Join the National Museum of African American History and Culture to create some cool crafts and learn about historical Black figures that changed the lives of Americans. These classes are designed for children ages 4 and up. Registered guests receive an email with Zoom information, a list of supplies needed and recommended resources on the Monday before the program.
7. Hunt For Washington (February 1-28, 2022)
A FREE scavenger hunt for families everywhere to uncover clues about Alexandria and George Washington. Start by printing THIS CLUE SHEET and bring it with you as you traverse the heart of Old Town and then use your sleuthing skills to find answers to the clues. It should take anywhere from 60-90 minutes to complete. Submit your findings to gwbirthdayevents@gmail.com any time before the end of the day on February 28.
